  • Uninstalling W3TC should be done through the Dashboard when possible, but it looks like you’ve removed all of the plugin files.

    The error you’re now geting appears unrelated to W3TC. Try renaming your entire plugin folder temporarily.

    Well the problem was I couldn’t log in to the dashboard before this new error, I was getting the message “Internal Server Error” so decided to just delete the plugin from ftp. Turns out that’s completely ruined the backend of the site.

    I’ve renamed the plugin folder as suggested and still the same error.

    Really can’t afford to pay someone to sort it out. arghhhhhh!!

    Anyway, thanks for the help!

    Can you paste the contents of your .htaccess file here, please?

    Delete all of the W3TC rules (everything between # BEGIN W3TC Browser Cache and # END W3TC Page Cache core. Those get removed when the plugin is deactivated properly, but not when you nuke it through other means.

    You also have duplicate WordPress rewrite rules and should delete those. End product should look something like this:

    addhandler x-httpd-php5-cgi .php

    # BEGIN WordPress
    <IfModule mod_rewrite.c>
    RewriteEngine On
    RewriteBase /
    RewriteRule ^index\.php$ - [L]
    RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f
    RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-d
    RewriteRule . /index.php [L]
    </IfModule>
    # END WordPress

    Hmmm, hta access now looks like this:

    addhandler x-httpd-php5-cgi .php

    # BEGIN WordPress
    <IfModule mod_rewrite.c>
    RewriteEngine On
    RewriteBase /
    RewriteRule ^index\.php$ - [L]
    RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f
    RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-d
    RewriteRule . /index.php [L]
    </IfModule>

    # END WordPress

    I’ve tried to find the folder: /home/content/97/7464297/html/wp-includes/version.php on line 371

    I’m guessing it’s the same folder as /wp-includes/version.php, but in that folder I get the following code:

    <?php
    /**
     * The WordPress version string
     *
     * @global string $wp_version
     */
    $wp_version = '3.4.2';

    /**
     * Holds the WordPress DB revision, increments when changes are made to the WordPress DB schema.
     *
     * @global int $wp_db_version
     */
    $wp_db_version = 21707;

    /**
     * Holds the TinyMCE version
     *
     * @global string $tinymce_version
     */
    $tinymce_version = '349-21274';

    /**
     * Holds the cache manifest version
     *
     * @global string $manifest_version
     */
    $manifest_version = '20111113';

    /**
     * Holds the required PHP version
     *
     * @global string $required_php_version
     */
    $required_php_version = '5.2.4';

    /**
     * Holds the required MySQL version
     *
     * @global string $required_mysql_version
     */
    $required_mysql_version = '5.0';

    You’ve been extremely helpful so far, thanks very much!!

    I’m able to hit http://www.skintnation.com/wp-login.php just fine, can you not log in?

    Thread Starter skintnation

    (@skintnation)

    It’s just when you get to http://www.skintnation.com/wp-admin/ that the error comes up.

    White screen and the message: Fatal error: Cannot run code from this file in conjunction with non encoded files in /home/content/97/7464297/html/wp-includes/version.php on line 371.

    The thing is, sometimes it works and I have full access to the dashboard for example yesterday I managed to log in. I logged out to see if the problem had gone, and then I got the error message again.

    Ok, I’d reinstall WordPress (wp-admin and wp-includes) then.

    (@skintnation)

    Ahh ok. I’m not exactly sure how to do that without ruining anymore of my site so i’m just gonna get someone to do that for me.

    Thanks very much for taking time out to help!!

    Much appreciated!!

    You just download the files from wordpress.org and upload via FTP. Good luck!
