[Plugin: NextGEN Gallery] Simple Style Responsive theme and NextGen Gallery

I have added the NextGen Gallery to my Simple Style Responsive child theme.
While the gallery displays and I can open individual images, the Slideshow does not work, it just goes into a continuous loading cycle.
Also when I do open an image there is no option to go to the next image.
I have contacted the theme support and they are unsure why it does not work.
I would appreciate any ideas on getting this to work.
