  • Hey PixelsCode. Thanks for the note here. Which version of IE is this happening on? Also, can you please share a link to the site so we can check this out directly? Thanks in advance!

    Hi,

    http://cancernorth.nicktoye.co.uk/meeting-calendar/

    It happens on IE8/7 and IE6 is just a disaster. 🙂

    Nick

    Thanks Nick. Unfortunately the earliest version of IE we’re able to support in the current release is IE8; we dropped support for IE7 and IE6 with the 2.0 build and so the most we can try to advise on here is IE8. (Of course, it’s very possible that if we get this fixed for IE8 that will carry over to 6 and 7 as well).

    So, that being said: this issue itself is a tad outside my area of expertise, but we do have a dev on staff who should be able to take a look and try to point you in the right direction on this. (If there’s also some code we can add to a future release to ensure this doesn’t happen to other users in the future, we’ll definitely add that as well).

    Jonah, my colleague who I’m asking to take a look, is out until Monday. But I’ve added this to his pile for when he returns so he can try to help you out. Thanks for your patience and support so far.

    Ok thanks for letting me know.

    Sure thing!

    Hey PixelsCode,

    I just took a look at your site in IE8 and the tooltips look fine to me: http://cl.ly/image/1G2w2w3u3s3B

    Make sure you are not running IE8 in Compatibility Mode as this will cause the issue you are experiencing. To force non-Compatibility Mode in IE you can put this meta tag in your HTML head:

    <meta http-equiv=”X-UA-Compatible” content=”IE=edge,chrome=1″>

    I hope that helps but let me know if you need anything else!

    – Jonah

    Hey PixelsCode, did Jonah’s follow-up give you what you need? Please let us know and we can follow-up as needed.

    Sorry yeah that’s all good.

    Its a shame there is no fallback for IE7 and IE6, because the list view works – so a way of going straight to that view for those browsers.

    There is an option to go into the List view by default if you set it under Events -> Settings, but that is applied system-wide. I’m not aware of a way to target that specifically to given web browsers but it may be doable.

    Sorry about the lack of support for IE6 and IE7. Those are such old browsers that we have to drop full support for them in order to keep providing the best experience in newer browsers. I know it’s a tough battle, but anytime you can get someone to upgrade off their IE6/IE7 habit to a more modern browser – it does feel like a win 🙂

    Hope that helps. Please let us know if you need anything else down the road, and thanks again for using The Events Calendar.

    I just wanted to let you all know this line of code
    <meta http-equiv=”X-UA-Compatible” content=”IE=edge,chrome=1″>
    has been more helpful to me than any answer on any thread

    Good to hear, thanks for checking in with that one.
