• OK, so I have bluhost as a web-host and wordpress (theme matala)… I am confused about what I am allowed to edit… when i go to appearance>editor, the css style sheet is there.. I have edited the style sheet quite a bit, but am now hearing about the css upgrade, which makes me wonder if I was not supposed to be editing through editor in the first place if I dont have the upgrade… I am very confused!

Can anyone bring any clarity on this topic?

    Thank you in advance!

  • about the css upgrade

“CSS upgrade” only applies to sites hosted on WordPress.COM. Self hosted sites using WordPress.ORG are fully customizable, including CSS editing.

However, you should be aware that any changes made to your theme (including editing the style.css file) will be overwritten (and lost) when you update the theme. An exception would be if you have a custom CSS option in the theme or are using a plug-in for custom CSS — then your changes will be fine upon upgrading. But really, the best way to customize a theme is to create and use a Child Theme.

Alternately, if you’re only changing the CSS, grab Jetpack and use their built in CSS editor 😀
