    Howdy,

I am moving my churches website over to my server so I can donate the space and save them some money. The problem is that i used the previous servers zip method and just zipped up all the files and downloaded them and did not use WP back up tool, did not know about it till it was too late. I also backed up the db.

I have installed the latest WP on my server and uploaded all the files. I created a new DB and made the changes to the wp-config file for that.

Problem is that when I go to the home page i get all kinds of different errors. THe error I am getting trying this time is

Parse error: syntax error, unexpected T_STRING in /home/xcntrk/public_html/xmovement.net/wp-config.php on line 28

I am new to WP and know nothing about it. I do not know hardly anything about programing either so I am a super noob. any help would be greatly appreciated. I would really like to have the site back up before Sunday.

    Thank you

  • I think you have not done changes in wp-config file correctly.

May be you have deleted some parts of code in wp-config.php
take a close look at file and compare with old file.
    you may get a clue.

Hi xcntrx, If I understand correctly.. you installed a fresh copy of wordpress on your server? Remove all the files from your server. You do not need to install a fresh copy of wordpress at first – you can update this later on after getting your site to work. Unzip the previous files onto your server. These should include the wordpress files as well. (If in doubt just do a fresh copy of all the files on the existing server.) Open the wp-config.php and make sure you have changed information in there to match your new server location and your new database information, username etc. Then import you existing database file (.sql) using php-admin via the control panel. If you get stuck – look me up and I can help you..

@ourwebsupport Thanks a million, site is up. I never ever would have thought about having to installs and then conflicting with each other. I thought you had to install it to use it. I think this WP learning process is going to be extremely slow LOL

Thanks again and God bless you

This is great news and the very best of luck with your website. Al
