• Is that possible to use permission control for links. Basically I don’t want “Authors” to be able to add links so that they appear in the sidebar sitewide. I don’t use wp as just a blogging system, I want the visitors to be able to register, login, post their observations and photos but no more than that. Any ideas?
    Thanks in advance.

  • I’m fairly certain (by default) Authors are not provided the capability to access the Links Manager.

It never hurts to set up a test login with the role you’ll be assigning to newly registered users, and use that to look around the admin to check out what they’ll actually be able to see (and do).

In any case, here’s a plugin worth looking at:

Ops… My apologies, I did exactly what you suggested – logged in with a test account and had a look around. But one thing I missed was that I made that test user an Editor rather than Author 🙂
