Custom field for post summary

I’d love to have a way to list my posts with a brief summary. For example, I have a list of YouTube movies (see: http://www.pixelshot.com/movies/ ) and I would like to enter in a summary of each movie then show the summary next to the thumbnail list of movies (i.e. blog entries).

Currently I am using the “optional excerpt” field to generate thumbnails for each blog entry, thus I can’t use it again for a summary.

Ideally I would like to have a specific field in the database that is just a summary that I can call up when I show a thumbnail list.

I’m not sure where to begin. Please help!
