I have tried that plugin but it doesn’t change it.
Additional information: Before turning it into a multisite, I set the WordPress Address (URL) and Site Address (URL) to https. I’m using sub-directories. After adding a site, I click on sites/sitename/edit and under the info tab I see Domain https:// and when I click on the settings tab I see http:// in Siteurl, Home and File Upload Url.
Try the other ones. Or put in a .htaccess redirect for everything http to go to https. I’m not sure it’s a bug, since really changing it in the URL sections isn’t the right away about it :/
I’ve tried htaccess redirect and also put define(‘WP_SITEURL’ in wp-config and it didn’t change.
Question: what is the “right way about it”?
The plugin, really.
What .htaccess redirect did you use that didn’t work?
I used the following:
RewriteEngine On
RewriteCond %{SERVER_PORT} 80
RewriteRule ^(.*)$ https://www.example.com/$1 [R,L]
I put the code in a mu-plugins file. No change.
I’m starting to think that wordpress multisite fills in the http:// by default when adding a site and making changes externally via htaccess or otherwise won’t affect it.
I noticed:
At the top of the add site page is: Site Address mysite.com/
You can’t change/add https to it and it is there for reference but it is what got me thinking about the above.
Yes, that’s true. Which is why a plugin is supposed to filter that for you 😉
Kind of like how domain mapping works.
