Reproduce: After a lot of customers telling me the site is slow, it lags when scrolling and when hovering over links it takes about 1-2 sec. before the “hand” comes in internet explorer, i had to dig into what this could be.

    The site is http://www.karrieretroms.no/

After deactivating all plugins and reactivate them one by one i sadly concluded that it was the events calendar.

I realy dont know where in script the problem is, so i hope you could take a check as fast as possible.

The problem above only commes to life in internet explorer, i have tested the versions most of my customers use, 7, 8 and 9. The overall
load time (in all browsers) also increase dramatically when the plugin is activated, even if it is the only plugin running.

Personaly i use Mac, and i havent notised any problems in Firefox, Safari or Chrome for Mac (except the load time).

I also have tested this with the standard WP theme and same thing happens there.

    Setup: WordPress 3.4.2 | The Events Calendar 2.0.9 | Events Calendar Pro 2.0.9 | RT-Theme 14 | PHP 5.2.17 | Apache

Plugins: I have deactivated all plugins and reactivated one by one, so i have tested with only The Events Calendar (pro) running.

Thanks for any (fast) help, realy hope we could fix this, as i love your calendar plugin!

  • Hey gormik. Thanks for reaching out here, and for the note. This is an interesting issue and not one we’ve received reports of yet; I too am using a Mac so I cannot test this, but I’ve asked Barry from our team – who is on a PC, I believe – to try and recreate so we can get this sorted. I will note that if you are looking for a quicker response, since you’re a PRO user you may want to post on the PRO forum…we hit that daily, versus this forum which we generally only visit 1x a week.

I should also set expectations that we dropped support for IE7 with 2.0’s launch, so we probably won’t be able to offer up much on that end. But I can try to figure out what’s up with 8 and 9.

Hi Goran – Barry from the community team here – sorry to hear your experience hasn’t been quite what you expect here. I did take a look at this and compared performance side-by-side with Chrome 21 running on one machine and IE9 on the other. I couldn’t honestly say that there was any perceptible difference in site performance.

I did also peruse the site using IE8 (or at least IE9 in IE8 mode) and although that was perhaps a little less punchy than IE9 I didn’t feel that it was abnormally slow by any means.

If there are any specific details you could provide that would give me a better understanding and allow me to more accurately replicate what you and your customers have experienced then please just let me know.

Is it possible that most of your clientèle are using Internet Explorer and are merely experiencing expected delays during peak times, creating something of a coincidence?

Hey Goran – just checking in to see if this continues to be an issue for you?

Just checking in one last time here, Goran, before we close this out in our central support system. Please let us know what else you need on this end. Thanks!
