Cannot Log In After Newest WP Upgrade

    Try:
    – switching to the Twenty Eleven theme by renaming your current theme’s folder inside wp-content/themes and adding “-old” to the end of the folder name using FTP or whatever file management application your host provides.

    – resetting the plugins folder by FTP or phpMyAdmin.

    – re-uploading all files & folders – except the wp-content folder – from a fresh download of WordPress.

    – running the upgrade manually via wp-admin/upgrade.php

    Thanks for your response, but I can’t get “inside WP” in order to switch out any themes, etc.

    I also don’t know anything about SQL to be able to use the phpMyAdmin or how to work with my WordPress webhost to use the FTP.

    I apologize, but I am pretty much clueless, which is why I chose WordPress in the first place.

    Please re-read my post above. None of the suggestions I made require you to login to your WordPress dashboard.

    Thanks so much for continuing to reply to my post. At this point I did read your post above (a number of times and looked at the links). It probably all sounds very sinmple to you, but I guess I don’t know enough about computers to understand what you are saying…

    1.Try:

    Suggestion 1 says “inside wp”.
    Suggestion 2 says FTP, which I have no idea how to work, even with your link.
    Suggestion 3 says phpMyAdmin, which I looked up but still don’t have a clue how to get into
    Suggestion 4 says to run manually, except for the wp folder, which I don’t understand, and have no idea how to do by leaving any folders out of the mix. —- * When I try to go to the “wp-admin/upgrade.php” link you provided, it throws me over to the following google page: http://www.google.com/search?q=wp-admin%2Fupgrade.php&rls=com.microsoft:en-us:IE-Address&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8&sourceid=ie7&rlz=1I7ADFA_enUS462

    Do you happen to have any other suggestions?

    And, do you know how to get in touch with the WordPress team?

    There is no “WordPress team” for you to contact. WordPress is free software and these free, volunteer-staffed, forums are the only support available unless you want to hire someone.

    No – it says “inside wp-content/themes”.

    Please see the FTP link I posted above.

    Suggestion 3 says phpMyAdmin

    This is database management software offered by your hosts. Try asking them how you can access it.

    Great news… this was resolved by:

    My bluehost account support team (which I contacted through a live web-chat) increased my memory limit to 128M.

    I was told: “The error showed the amount of memory being attempted to be used was 67M and it was set to 64M.
    If your site causes performance hits” (due to the new increase) “on our server, we will let you know, but 128M of memory should not be an issue.”

    As soon as they re-set the memory use, WordPress let me right back into my dashboard.

    Thanks so much for your help esmi. If you had not written back, I would have taken even longer to attempt to contact the webhost.
