• I followed the installation instructions and installed the plugin through WordPress Then I created the two files in my WordPress directory: sitemap.xml and sitemap.xml.gz and made them writable via CHMOD 666. I then activated the plugin at the plugin administration page.

    There is no plugin configuration page (anywhere in my WP admin). Please advise how I can get an options page for Google XML Sitemap.

    I’ll try to help here… Just some remarks first
    First off, there’s no need to manually create the sitemap.xml and sitemap.xml.gz files; doing so may conflict with the plugin function (Repeat – MAY)
    Second: The files should anyway be CHMOD 644 (666 makes them executable by Group and World) – only the User needs write permissions.

    TRY THIS
    Deactivate then fully delete the plugin… Delete the manual sitemap files you mention then install the plugin again and activate the plugin again. The options link should be found in Settings/XML-sitemap right at the bottom of the list.

    If this fails, delete plugin, TEMPORARILY CHMOD wp-content/plugins folder to 777, re-install, activate and generate a sitemap
    DON’T FORGET TO CHMOD the folder back to 755

    @mikeotgaar thanx

    Sorry for the delayed response. Thank you @mikeotgaar for your assistance. However, after trying all of your recommendations, I still didn’t have the options link under Settings. The sitemap page does create, but I can’t change my original options (from when the website was first created). Also, I can’t find the sitemap.xml file that relates to this blog in my file manager, anywhere! It’s working, so I’ll leave it as is, but it is a mystery I would love to have solved!
