• I’m getting the following error when trying to login to my admin panel:

    <blockquote>
    Forbidden
    You don’t have permission to access /notebook/wp-login.php on this server.

    Additionally, a 404 Not Found error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.
    </blockquote>

    Anyone have a clue what this means or how to fix it? I contacted my host already and they were no help, other than suggesting it could be a problem with my .htaccess file. So I deleted it, to see what would happen, and even tried to overwrite it by reinstalling wordpress. Neither seemed to have made a difference. Then I poked around in phpMyAdmin, but I don’t know much about mysql or database administration, so that was fruitless.

    Funny thing is, all my content will load, but without the CSS applied. So, my site’s layout isn’t rendering and none of my back-end stuff is accessible, but the site can be surfed in a browser! I’ve exhausted any and all knowledge on how to get everything functioning again as it should be. Please help! You can view it at http://feistyred.com

  • for starters, why are you tacking on notebook to the url?

    your domain is at http://feistyred.com .. therefore the login page ought to exist at http://feistyred.com/wp-login.php

    If that doesnt work, which is doesnt, your Blog address (URI) or WordPress address (URI) are incorrect, or your permalinks are hosed, or or or ..

    I installed the blog files in the notebook directory for easier management of my file structure, but also because I wanted to experiment with creating a static home page without using a plugin, and begin tweaking WP for use as a CMS as per the article here… http://codex.wordpress.org/Creating_a_Static_Front_Page.

    Anyway, that wasn’t the issue because up until 2 days ago everything was working fine. I still don’t know for sure what happened, but I think my .htaccess file was the culprit. I had been trying to password protect a directory with .htaccess but it didn’t work and I apparently screwed something up in the process. Ugh. What a headache. I finally gave up and resolved the problem a few minutes ago by uploading a backup I had of all the blog files. Thanks anyway.
