• Hi,

I’ve inherited a site which was built on WP 3.3.1 and is currently running mySQL version of 4.1.22.

First, I wanted to know if I upgrade to the latest version of WP, will the mySQL upgrade happen automatically or do I need to take care of it on my own ahead of time? If the latter, how do I go about doing this?

Are they any issues I should be prepared to anticipate with the upgrade to the latest version of mySQL?

Having not developed this site from the onset, I’m concerned about proceeding without extreme caution.

Much thanks for any insight/advice you might be able to share!

  • MySQL is installed on the server, so should be updated by the owner of the server. It will not update automatically when you upgrade your WordPress.

Thanks for the info and for the quick reply. I just found the place where I upgrade on the hosting server.

Am I correct in thinking we could run into issues with doing the upgrade as relates to the live site? Any advice you might be able to give in the area of anticipating issues.

It looks like we can revert if there is an issue back to the old version.
