• Can someone direct me to a way of adding an indicator next to my blog entry “Recent Entries” list that would show “NEW!” when fresh articles have been posted to the site since the reader’s last visit?

I’m redesigning my site to have just one article posted with a sidebar of the last five. As a result, new articles beyond the fully expanded “top” story may not draw their attention.

    Thanks!

  • similar to this? or no?

If you shared the url to your blog it might be easier to see where exactly youre looking to put this.

Not sure why I never thought of this, but I would love the plugin for this if there is one 😉

Now that I looked at your site heather, I think i know what the op is looking for. There is a “since last visit” (or something) plugin out there somewhere. If im not mistaken podz uses it. Might want to hunt around for that..

here is a little something to help with it too

Thanks for this. Unfortunately I get:

Warning: main(/wp-content/plugins/wp-last-visit.php?type=js): failed to open stream: No such file or directory in /usr/www/users/mhains/hainsworth/wp-content/themes/fresh/header.php on line 5

Fatal error: main(): Failed opening required '/wp-content/plugins/wp-last-visit.php?type=js' (include_path='.:/usr/local/lib/php:.:.') in /usr/www/users/mhains/hainsworth/wp-content/themes/fresh/header.php on line 5

when I place the necessary code in the header.php — the instructions say put it in the head portion of your index.php, but it appears this plug-in was written for v1.2 of WordPress and the head tag has been moved to header.php since.

Even the test site doesn’t show the plug-in working anymore.

I wonder if there’s an alternative? Or has someone gotten it working?

    thanks,
    Michael

Oh, and my site is http://www.hainsworth.com — click the “Turn Beta ON” on the top sidebar.

To answer the e-mail I received… my plugin still works with 2.0.x, I’m using it on my site.

Thanks for the reply, Alex — any idea why I’m getting the above error when I insert the directed code into the header.php file?

i dont see an error when the beta is turned on

I’ve disabled the code at the moment. The error is as shown above.
