• I have searched but couldn’t find my answer!

I set up a blog on wordpress.com but want to move it to my server. I download, installed and set up the software from wordpress.org. How can I export the data?!

  • The traditional method would be to use the RSS Importer from your new blog. Basically, you go to your .COM blog and at Options -> Reading, put in a very large number for the number of syndication posts. View your feed, save to file, then in your new blog click on “Import” (you saw it there already, right?) and point it to that RSS feed you just saved.

Or, you could use this plugin: http://www.technosailor.com/wordpress-to-wordpress-import/

Well, I want to move the data from the free service: samanathon.wordpress.com to my server samanathon.com

How can I export the data from the free service?

    My first paragraph. above.

Actually, the WXR option linked to would be better than RSS because it keeps comments and the likes. RSS should only be used as a last ditch effort IMO.
