Adding www to site URL, cannot access site
-
Hi Folks
This is a new fresh wordpress install done 2 days ago.
I changed the “WordPress Address” and “Site Address” to include www before my site name ex: from http://test.com to http://www.test.com. That’s the only change I did.
Now for some strange reason, I would randomly not get access to the site. In those cases, I would get the Hostgator default page as if the WordPress site did not exist. This has been going on for the last 2 days. I tried this on different browsers and ISP providers and I get the same thing. I have other WordPress sites setup in the past with the www added and have had no problems with them.
Under Internet Explorer, I do see an orange rectangle at the bottom left corner of the browser. Clicking o it brings up a window with the following error:
expected ‘)’
http://www.xxxx.comand then it gives the line numbers where this error occurred.
Does it take a while before all the DNS servers sees the new www change? The domain name was purchased from Godaddy (all my other domain names were purchased from Godaddy as well).
Thanks in advance
Norman
