I had really liked this plugin. Easy to use. Nice icons. Showed full counts (not just 1K when it gets over 1,000). However, plugins must be maintained. If a problem occurs, then it needs to be resolved – and when users ask about it on the plugin’s home page, they deserve the courtesy of a response, not just left in a moderation queue.

Sadly, I had no choice but to remove Social Media Counters. When the Facebook button disappeared, replaced with only the text “Share” (not even indicating the social media site), it impacted badly on sharing of articles. I gave it more than a day – but without even the courtesy of a response, would not consider going back to it.

    Hello,

I very much apologise for the lack of response, I have been very busy with work and other commitments, and I have, indeed, neglected my website. The plugin homepage, comments and plugin itself will be majorly upgraded this weekend.

Facebook did indeed recently change their share button.
I have added a fix to the plugin so the Facebook button now correctly shows, (now on 1.1.2) and as I say, will be doing a major upgrade again at the weekend.

Once again I can only apologise and I’m sorry you had to remove the plugin, but thankful that you at least enjoyed it while you had it.

I do appreciate your response, and will keep it in mind. In many respects, I preferred your plugin with the one I now have and may reconsider.

Thank you for your honest and responsible reply.
