I just started having this issue a couple of weeks ago. For some weird reason when I try to activate a new plugin I just installed I get a “Internal Server Error”. Once it does that I have no way to access my site. I have to ftp into my plugins folder and manually remove the plugin and the sites back up. At first I thought the plugins were not compatible with the version of wordpress I am using but after trying 10 plugins or so that I know are compatible I’m still getting the error. I’m running wordpress 3.4.1 and I’m using pagelines theme.

  • Can you revert to Twenty Eleven theme and see if installing plugins causes the problem?

Thanks for getting back so quick. Pagelines was causing the issue. Everything works fine now. Too bad. I really like pagelines. It there anyway to fix that so I can have the pagelines theme.

Go HERE. I find 10 links of (possibly) problems listed by others. Also you can find the theme author’s page and the theme page there. Possibly you will find some answers there, or someone else will chime in and tell you more about how to solve the issue further.
