    Dear All,

My wish is so simple: One writer starts a conversation between writers and he can choose which writer will be included, able to see the conversation.

I don’t want to Subscribers to see none of conversation.

bbPress, Buddpress, mindle, simple:press, etc… wordpress forum plug-ins doesn’t seem to be able to handle such a easy task. On the other side installing a seperate forum system will let us have pains on user management. (of course there are some OLD/out-of-date sync tools, but since they are free, it is not guraante they will work on the next versions.)

Do you have any idea ?

That is because either 1) it’s not an easy task, or 2) that’s not really what they were intended for. The idea behind a forum is to facilitate conversation between as many people as possible. You, on the other hand, want to limit conversation.

It might be helpful to know how you want them to have a conversation. Through posts? Through comments?

of course there are some OLD/out-of-date sync tools

What are they? You don’t really want a forum, so if we knew what some of these were, we might know of or be able to find something similar.

Beware of false assumptions. I’ve seen plenty of paid plugins that don’t work all that well either.

To be honest, I think you want a forum, but with a plugin that can hide subforums from everyone but selected members. There is such a plugin for the stand-alone version of bbPress, but I’m not so sure about the plugin version.

Since my aim is to hide conversation between selected Writers, the base is not important. It can be posts and comments, or a seperated table.

If these tools had the something like I wished, that could be nice:WP Admin Microblog or User Messages

They usually called “bridge”. On some sites I have read that bridges doesn’t work properly on next versions of forums or wp.

So as you tell free or paid, if not under development they will fail to handle their tasks.

Thanks for the trick. I will search for it. What bbPress make me think of is, I won’t find the right or updated plug-in in the case of further need.

I have known and setup for friends twice bbPress and aggree with this page : Why I Didn’t Choose bbPress

Anyway thank you, I will write down my choose.

I must say, I started out with phpBB, which was overly complicated, and then tried bbPress, which I loved for its simplicity. However, I agree with the article you mentioned that support & documentation is sparse.

It almost sounds like you want a private chat room, but not necessarily in real time. I’ll keep my eyes open.

    Thank you.

I have tried lots of plug-in.

At the end I used Vanilla Forum (Comunity Edition). It has a feature called “Start Conversation”

And it can get embeded via a shortcode that is in the Vanilla settings. Just take that code and insert into a post or page. Looks like it’s a WordPress page… and conversation tool is very nice.

A bit template modification can be neccessary.
