hello again i have also noticed i cant make pages, as well as posts i get the 406 error page when i try to publish or save a page to draft, thanks for any help
Have you tried:
– deactivating all plugins to see if this resolves the problem. If this works, re-activate the plugins one by one until you find the problematic plugin(s).
– switching to the Twenty Eleven theme to rule out any theme-specific problems.
– resetting the plugins folder by FTP or PhpMyAdmin. Sometimes, an apparently inactive plugin can still cause problems.
– re-uploading all files & folders – except the wp-content folder – from a fresh download of WordPress.

Hi thanks for your reply, i deactivated all plugins, then switched to the Twenty Eleven theme, and tried resetting the plugins in my PhpMyAdmin. that didnt work still have the same problem, so then tried re-uploading all files & folders – except the wp-content folder – from a fresh download of WordPress. (3.4.1.zip) and i got this error message in my control pannel:
You attempted to load file with unsupported compression (application/zip). Either support for it is not implemented or disabled by your configuration.
I normally just update wordpress using wordpress-3.4.1.tar.gz, in my wordpress dash board, can you tell me a way to upload the fresh files? thanks so much for your help, jane
Did you unzip the new copy of WP before uploading it? That error message indicates a server issue that you need to discuss with your hosts. Not sure that could be triggering it, though.

thanks for getting back to me again, yes i did unzip the wp, so i could take out the w-p content file before i uploaded, i will tell my host about the problem, dont know if that will help, can i get an older version of w-p download from anywhere? as my blog is usless to me if i cant blog with it, thanks for your help

Hi just wanted to add something else, i downloaded firefox to see if it would work using that, it doesnt but i do get a different message which may help you identify the problem, when i click save draft or post i get:
Not Acceptable
An appropriate representation of the requested resource /blog/wp-admin/post.php could not be found on this server.
Additionally, a 404 Not Found error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.
