Support » Plugin: Post Comments as bbPress Topics » [Plugin: bbPress Topics for Posts] Can the styling for forum replies in post view be different?

I’m wondering if the styling for forum replies is dictated by the bbPress 2 theme files no matter where the forum component is displayed, or if it could be presented differently when it’s loaded in a blog post.

I want to use the bbPress 2 forum for comments, but as long as I’m in post view, where the post should be the most prevalent piece of content by far, I prefer the subtle style of the ordinary WordPress comments.

Is this possible? (that is if I managed to make myself clear; it got a bit convoluted)

  • The styling of forum replies is dictated by the bbPress theme files, since I’m just calling the bbPress shortcode functions. However, you may be able to use CSS to change the styling.

Depending on your comfort level with WP, you could hook the bbp_get_template_part filter to replace the standard topic template with your own.

    Thanks for the pointers!

I’m keen to do this too. Any pointer you can offer for retaining the WordPress comment style but still syncing Forum and WordPress comments are appreciated.

Did you use bbp_get_template_part or update BBpress CSS?
