• I installed WP Total cache current version available and I left all the default settings plus I have activated the minify flag. With this option activated the home page does not load correctly so I remove minify setting. The problem now is that site appears ok in Chrome & Firefox but not in Window Explorer 8 (last version available for XP). The right column is not positioned correctly with Explorer 8 and I cannot revert the situation by disabling the plugin. What should I do? I also tried to re-installed the theme of my blog but the problem remains. The site displayed perfectly also in Explorer BEFORE I installed WP Total cache… not very happy of this plugin now. Does it change permanently some CSS?

    Thanks
    Andrea

  • I’ve done some beginning / first-timer steps with W3 Total Cache recently, reading about all its settings, reviews of it, etc…so I’d be really interested in how you get along with it and if and how you resolve this problem.

I’m curious (and maybe, hopefully, you’ve tried this already Andrea), if you’ve made sure to completely clear out Explorer’s browser cache. And even quit/restart IE after doing so, even quit/restart your PC as well, just to be super sure all is clear.

I’ve read comments via google searches for W3 Total Cache, just to not use the Minify option in it at all. But for any ill effects to remain after disabling the plugin…that’s real bad. Would really like to hear what’s behind that as I’m trying to determine a caching and site-speedup solution for a client’s wordpress site. Hopefully you’ll get some good feedback here very soon.

This plugin hasn’t been updated in almost a year, and is only tested with WP up to version 3.2.1

Hello, I’ve now find out that my problem was due to some additional custom CSS and NOT to the plugin total cache. In fact it was very odd that the problem was still there even after disabling the plugin.
So the truth is that my site HAS an issue when I try to unable the minify option of the WP cache plugin but when I disable “minify” section, the site is displayed correctly. I assumed that the plugin had corrupted my site code, but the actual problem (after disabling the plugin) was elsewhere.

    Andy,

Where did the strange CSS code show up?

I installed W3TC and it killed the slider on my homepage. I disabled the plugin, uninstalled, deleted, removed files through FTP – I did everything I could find online, and the slider still doesn’t work. Maybe there’s some kind of code in the CSS stopping it.

Thanks for the help. I’m desperate to get this fixed!

There are lots of cases for CSS and JS that will not work with minify. Minify is technology that is not made by me, it’s a library / tool available to reduce the size of files. The developers of plugins that have CSS and JS need to actually make their code compatible with minify, I cannot do it all by myself, there are too many plugins, themes and combinations. You have to use manual mode and omit some files that aren’t compatible if you’re not lucky enough for everything to magically work. Sorry.
