    Recreating a wordpress site in 3.4 on my localhost (so the old site is left intact while I work – its terribly out of date and desperately needs restructuring).

    I’m putting together the basic page structure with a bit of holding text (and will copy the real content in later) but when I click on the menu links – I’m getting 404 errors – but the pages seem to be published in the backend.

    In settings, permalinks are set to Postname.

    Any ideas?
    Many thanks!
    Clare.

  • Check that mod_rewrite is running on your server.

    I’m having same problem using WAMPServer:

    New 3.4 install on localhost;
    Multisite upgrade;
    bbpress seems to be working but buddypress isn’t [not really sure!];

    The primary site seems to be working but the secondary site shows 404 errors although it seems the pages are intact in the pages section…

    Apache mod_rewrite is running and my production server [Godaddy] doesn’t seem to be having the same issues…

    what else can I check to get the second site recognized???
