• Here’s what I did:

    1) Developed a new web site on a localhost wordpress install
    2) Exported posts and pages from localhost wordpress install
2a) Replaced “http://localhost/wordpress” with “http://example.com” for self-hosted domain in .xml file for posts and pages.
    3) Imported posts and pages to a fresh wordpress install on self-hosted domain.
    4) Home page loads fine, secondary pages and posts show 404.
    5) Switched permalinks schema to alternate URL style and then back again to /%postname%/
    6) Home page loads fine, secondary pages and posts show 404.
    7) Deleted .htaccess from the server and did step 5 again to initiate a new .htaccess. New .htaccess appeared (exactly the same as the old one)
    8) Home page loads fine, secondary pages and posts show 404.

And to make sure it wasn’t a problem with my export/import, I also created a brand new post, but the same result. 404 on the post.

What do I do from here? The forums all said steps 5 and 7 would do the trick, and in the past it has, but now it’s not.

    Thanks.
