• The theme Night Royale by Clay McIllrath has not been updated in years. It’s not working correctly, and should either be updated or removed from your list of available themes. Thank you!

  • I’ll update the theme this week 🙂 Ever consider donating to theme developers? We design, develop, and release this stuff for free ya know.

Define “not working correctly” for me. I just installed an the latest version of WordPress (3.4) and it runs beautifully. Agreed, it does need some work to get it working with some of the new features like dynamic menus and such, but other than that, I’ll need more feedback as to what you’re having issues with.

Hello, Mr. McIlrath, good to hear from you! I actually did contact you a few times through Facebook and offered to pay you to do some work on my website. When I didn’t hear back, I found a WP programmer to work on the basics, but the program is still giving a lot of grief. So, yes, I have definitely considered donating. LOL

Here are the main things that would be helpful in your theme:

    1) It does not recognize many standard text symbols like Emdashes, Smartquotes, and Elipses. When I paste text using any of these in a post or page, and try to update, it save the text only up to the point of the special character.

2)Using the Welcome/Home page as the landing page (instead of the blog page), the widgets on the Sidebar Home feature do not work, but the Sidebar Interior works.

3)On the Rt sidebar, using the Pages widget, Parent pages should show, then when clicked, the child pages should show on the sidebar, and continue to be available on the sidebar while on parent page or any of the child pages.

4)Blog comments do not allow threaded comments, even after choosing this opion in the setup.

5)Blog posts appear as summary, even after choosing Full Text.

6)Blog comments have strange numbering which runs off the page.

7)When adding a new post, the “Choose from most used tags” link does not work.

8)On Posts and Pages, centering graphics does not work unless using the <center> code on the html tag

9)On Posts and Pages, it does not show the past revision history at the bottom unless you wait until it saves a draft, exit the page without saving, then goi back in.

10)I disabled the social network buttons and the contact button on the top right. I couldn’t get them to work for me.

11)I also disabled the avatar/greeting/socian network button box on the blog page because it wouldn’t work for me. This is when using the Welcome page as the landing page/front page display.

I posted this comment mainly to save anyone creating a new website from having to go through everything I went through to get it to work, but now that you’re available to upgrade the theme, I’m sure it will be in good shape in no time.

    Thank you!

Thanks for contacting. I’m not on Facebook much, and i think when users that aren’t in your friends list message, it goes into a hidden “other” folder in your messages (which sadly, i never think to check).

I’ll work on those updates to the theme this week, and contact you when it’s ready to test out. I’m sorry i haven’t had time to work on this theme in a while, but those changes should be fairly quick to implement. Do you have a website that I could look at to see some of these issues on directly? Also, due to the nature of pulling in a developer, I’m not sure what he/she may have updated, or whether that will cause conflicts with the new theme, so be aware that I can’t guarantee stability on that front.

Thanks for your feedback and patience.

Thanks, Clay. I’d prefer not to post the website on this forum, but I’ll friend you on FB and send you a PM with the link to my site. I appreciate it!

I’m pushing out an update right now that addresses most of your issue. Not all of them, and not perfectly, but it’s something nonetheless. 🙂 I’ll be more proactive in making updates and changes in the future, its feedback like this that helps me refine.

    Well.. I tried. http://themes.trac.wordpress.org/ticket/8299#comment:2

WordPress is super stiff now about themes and how they have to be developed. I’m not going to burn any more time on this so I’ll back your request to just shutting the theme down if they wont even let me update it without completely rebuilding.
