I made the mistake of attempting to upgrade to 3.4 this morning and have done nothing but pull my hair out. I encountered the following – Fatal error: Allowed memory size of 33554432 bytes exhausted (tried to allocate 30720 bytes) in /home/acpscom/public_html/homecare/wp-admin/includes/update.php on line 198

I have tried adding the php.ini memory file update which did not help…. even went has high has 256. I have then came across the Fatal error posting http://wordpress.org/support/topic/fatal-error-on-upgrade-allowed-memory-size-exhausted I updated the memory limit as instructed but that still does not solve the problem.

Just so that everyone knows I am just good enough to be dangerous at this and believe me i will ask a lot of questions if i do not understand what to do. This is my business site so I need to figure out how to fix this.

    Thanks a million, Moe

  • You set memory as high as 256 what? Megabytes? Kilobytes? Bytes?

You edited your php.ini file to change this value? Not your wp-config.php? Or both? You may need to try both.

You actually have the physical memory on the machine that you are trying to allocate?

    Hi,

can you share how you solved your problem!?

since I’ve updated to 3.4 this error is constantly appearing:

” Fatal error: Allowed memory size of 134217728 bytes exhausted (tried to allocate 71 bytes) in /wp-includes/cache.php on line 508 “

    thanks!!
