Does anyone know of any bugs out there that would prevent the sites Title and Description from showing up?

    Here are some details:

    – It has the All in one SEO plugin installed.
~ Home Title has been filled out.
~ Home Description has been filled out.
~ Home Keywords has been filled out.
    ~ Plugin Status is enabled
~ Title Format fields have all been completed
~ Google Analytics ID is done.

    – Privacy settings are set to “Allow search engines to index this site”.

I hope someone knows of a quick fix otherwise I will be forced remove the plugin all together and hand code all of the meta info and seo.

    Thanks.

Here is the sites name Evelation Consulting

    Hi
After looking at your site, SERP apperance and Source code to me it just seemes to be a “ned domain” issue.

    How “old” is this site?
When did you last update your META tags?

As a rule it can take 2-3 day or up to 2 weeks to get fully indexed. You can speed this up by registering yourself via WebMasterTolls (basic verification + sitemap submition).

If this is not a “new domain” issue, you might wanna look into this domain history (was penelized or still in penalty).

    Hope this helps.

Try to use this tool: http://www.seocentro.com/tools/search-engines/metatag-analyzer.html

You will find that while your content has the word Seattle only once, you have used the term 7 times in the keyword meta. It should not be repeated more than two to three times in keywords, while the word has to appear a few times in your content (recommended 2% to 5%). Also expand your Title tag (up to 80 characters) so that it will appear in your SERP. There are so many other points to be considered for SEO.

Thanks for looking into this issue for me.

@igal – The site has been up for about 2+ months and the meta tags were updated on 6-9-12 I’ve never had this problem before.

Did my suggestions help you in some way?

@krishna – Yes your suggestion was useful. However when I google search “evelation consulting” the results show “www.evelationconsulting.com/” there’s no title nor is there a description. I’ve never had to deal with a penalization issue with google so I’m looking into that today.

I welcome any and all suggestions that anyone may have.

    Thanks 🙂

    For the future:
    1. Keep your metatags correct for every page
    2. Add plenty of content. Sites with good content get better ranking
    3. For photos, images, etc. add title tags and alt tags that include your keywords
    4. While editing and optimizing photos, add description, title, and keywords as embeds into the images. While search engines cannot see or read images, they collect data from these info.
    5. Go to webmaster tools of Google and Bing and add your site and submit sitemaps and get your site verified
    6. Try to get back links from better ranking sites and blogs
    7. Add your site to free directories that does not require backlinks or payment. Paid backlinks, if detected will get a poor/ negative ranking from Google.
    8. If your site is a static site with not much contents, try adding a blog section to your site where you can write articles keyword-rich content. This will increase your overall ranking.
    9. Your anchor texts (within <a> and </a>) must contain your keywords for better ranking.

These are some of the points that can improve your rankings. There are hundreds other aspects for better SEO. Also note that these are apart from SEO aspects included in plugins and themes.

I hope these additional points shall help you further.

At the moment I’m not particularly worried about the sites ranking, but I do appreciate the list of tips. The reason for this post isn’t about getting better rankings.. It’s about trying to figure out why the sites “Title and Description” isn’t showing up when there clearly is meta data that provides the info.

You don’t need to have a plugin to be found in a search result. I’ve made plenty of sites that are easily found by just adding:
    <title>Company Name</title>
    <meta name=”description” content=”The companies description”>.
Doing a search for the company by just typing “Company Name” has always found the correct site with the title and description displaying instead of the url. I was hoping to come across someone that may have had the same issue and knows a direct solution.

I told you what I know about. I have a dozen sites and I use the above guidelines. If you know better, it is very good. Try on those lines. If you got better results with your other sites you can apply them here.

You won’t get answers for SEO questions from any one source. It is vast subject with NO FIXED formulas or answers. So, let us wait and see. There will be others who can answer this question better. I can also learn from it.

I do not claim to be an SEO expert, and I do not think I will ever be perfect in SEO. So, like you, I am also looking for better advice.

So it turns out that the site was removed from Googles index, reasons unknown. I just asked them to reindex the site and within 24 hours they reindexed it. I did however apply a few of Krishna’s techniques as stated above that should help with the sites ranking.

    Thanks again for everyones help.

    You are welcome.
