I have a WP multisite installed and I have for the parent and one child blog lost the display of all users as well as the typical user roles that can be assigned.

    User List – https://docs.google.com/open?id=0B9F9n1X87-fzbnhYRmhjTjZEalU
    Add New user – https://docs.google.com/open?id=0B9F9n1X87-fzMlNmbEFUTlBfMVE

All the other child blogs seem to be working as expected, just the one child and the parent is acting strange.

I looked in the DB in the wp_1_options >> wp_1_user_roles and the equivalent child location and found data in both those locations, but I also noted that the child blogs that seem to be working file do NOT have a wp_XX_user_roles row.

    Its strange.

Any assistance would be great. cb

You actually have a wp_1_ set of tables?

Yeah, we started life as a WPMU back before the merge.

Ahh that is important to know! 🙂

Okay, first, just because we found data, doesn’t mean it’s ‘good’ data. Pick a site that is working, and copy from that.

Second, are you using any user managment/role managment plugins?

We are not using any management/role plugins. Disabling all plugins and going back to the default theme was one of the first things I tried.

So I looked at the data for 28_user_roles (the blog that was acting up) and it was empty and went to 26 user roles and copied the data from there and added it to 28. It seemed to have fixed it.

I will be going through all the other child blogs to check there status as well.

Thanks for your assistance in this Ipstenu. thx cb

FYI, disabling a role management plugin doesn’t (always) clean up what it did to your site.

Yeah, we actually rolled back a day in our DB and a lot of our problems were gone. And the bits that were missing in the DB were no longer missing.

We think it the action taken by Better WP Security when it re-wrote the prefix on out database away from wp_
