it was driving me nuts trying to figure out why it was there.
I remember having a copy protection plugin that did the same thing, and so I frantically tried deleting various plugins, thinking it was one of them, not suspecting it was the stat counter.
Ugh. I spent years learning programming, only to realize that I had no use for my skills, and started wanting to revise every single program, finding flaws, and things I would have done different, but never once did I want to put a mark in the code, anywhere!

It’s a one line fix and is really easy to do.
hi, I already deactivated and deleted the plugin.
I was trying something different, since I had been using Visitor Maps and Whos online for a long time now, however, it has an issue with placing a bit of status text right in the middle of the wordpress admin footer, but thats another plugin,,
