how to call titles from categories

I want to be able to call post titles from specific categories and have them on the homepage under some posts. Is this possible with WP template tags? I have played around with some combinations, but none of them are allowing me to do this:

Category Name
-post title
-post title
-post title

Category Name
-post title
-post title
-post title

etc, etc. Thanks for the help.
