Displaying SINGLE post from specific category?

    I am looking to display 1 single post from 1 single category on my home page..

    Basically, what I am looking to do is:

    NEWS FEED on home page displays single post, below it I want any articles not tagged as NEWS to show up. only 3 of them tho.

    any thoughts?
