    History:
Earlier today I updated two plugins for my site; Portfolio slideshow by Raygun, and W3 total cache. Everything seemed to be fine at first after updating both plug ins. While viewing the page I, idiotic I know, pretty much clicked clear all cache on the drop down menu from the top of the screen without thinking – this is where the fun started. After doing that the site seemed to lose all formatting entirely and was nothing more than a running white page of text and few images.

I’ve spent all day trying to figure this out and I am by no means a technical expert but know enough to get by and figure things out. I searched the forums, followed precise uninstall instructions for removing W3 thinking that was the problem, have tried to verify everything is in the right place, etc. After all my searching and efforts I am no closer to figuring this out.

The site is running on a custom template that was created prior to me being involved with the site. In addition to the site not loading properly, when viewing the theme in the admin panel the preview is blank.

My best guest is that W3 messed something up in the file structure, directories, or something of the sort though as I said I really am just guessing.

Any help would be unbelievably appreciated! I am more than happy to supply any information, links, files, logs, etc., that any of you may need. I would not be posting here if I had not exhausted trying to figure this out on my own!

    The site is: http://www.pinkmonkeysolutions.com

  • It looks like most pages are being styled except for pages below /work/…have you tried disabling W3Total Cache and re-enabling it or manually refreshing the cache again?

I would also go to /wp-admin/options-permalink.php and save your rewrite rules and see if W3Total Cache asks to refresh the cache again.

First of all thanks for your help and input. I did indeed try disabling and re-enabling W3Total Cache and manually refreshing the cache again. Neither offered any improvement.

One of the last things I did was fiddle with permalink.php and that also did not have any impact on the issue.

To be honest I kind of lost patience a bit and decided to simply load a backup copy of the site from a few days ago and that worked like a charm. Not the most elegant solution, I know, but it worked and my site is back up and running. Based on everything I wound up reading about W3Total Cache and the problems people have been having with it, I think I’ll be switching to a different plug-in in the very near future. Thanks again for your prompt response and help.
