It’s at the bottom of each page. I’ve looked in the HTML coding on each page and can’t see a reason why it’s there. Very confused as it wasn’t there this morning!
does the theme have (or had) a sidebar?
have you looked into the theme’s templates?

Thanks so much for your help. How do I got about getting rid of it without creating more problems?
The code appears in the browser – seemingly in all pages.
check all your theme’s template files – page.php, index.php, sidebar.php (if it is still or again there ?) etc.
and also the widget areas in your theme under dashboard – appearance – widgets.
.news_bubble .text {
font-size: 11px;
line-height: 1.4em;
}
In style.css line 500
Above is location in your style.css
Backup your database first,
this is called from php as it is calling to each page id so you will need to locate it . You can reduce this in css until you find the call to. If you are uncomfortable with going to code just reduce and get someone to look at it for you.
Hope this helps
Best of luck
Just a thought You have nothing where this appears, why not use it delete it from images and put up your own image with the same file extn. Now there’s an easy fix. Until you get into the code

I’ve found it in sidebar.php – can I simply delete it? Bit sceptical to do so as I don’t want to bring the whole site down..

Thanks so much for all your help btw, very much appreciated
Is it calling a div class news_bubble.If it is then fine. The solution here is in the code,What caused this in the first place Have you a plugin that you presume is deleted, check that in ftp.
I would do as I said in previous, especially as you seem uncomfortable within the code.(No insult intended, I’m no expert myself)
Again have you done a backup,
Best of luck, don’t forget to close this.
