As this post has been closed to new comments ( why? ) – I thought it worth reopening the topic as it’s going to soon be an important issue for one of our clients.

Having the whole member list loaded on the screen (in the ‘directory’) is going to be a problem for growing sites with thousands of users…

This has been raised here but the topic has been closed to new replies.

I agree, we have 25,000 users and Im terrified to put this on the live box because I know if will lag. I’m going to do the mod mentioned in that post for now.

I don’t have a problem adding a filter or something that will allow admins to disable this directory, though I don’t have the time to implement it right this second. Patches welcome 🙂

We recently put together an ajax-based directory lookup to handle a similar situation in a C# based project – if I get time over the next couple of weeks I’ll look at porting it over to PHP and into this plugin. It would help one of our clients too.

Hi Chris, please keep this post informed about your addition to this plugin. 🙂
