    Where are you seeing that? The code says 775:

    Note, though, that on a sane hosting setup, even if it did say 777, it would be harmless, because permissions of sub-directories are only relevant if you can already access that sub-directory. If your WP install is in a directory which other, independent websites can have access to, then it’s already game over: they can just read your wp-config.php, get your database details, and take over.
