[Plugin: WordPress SEO by Yoast] content within [shortcode] is not recognized

    Any content wrapped within a [shortcode]content[/shortcode]is not recognized by this plugin. When I click the page analysis tab, I get something like “There are 8 words contained in the body copy. This is far too low and should be increased”. This is because everything outside of the shortcode brackets can be seen (8 words). WordPress says I have a 700 word count, but the plugin can’t see inside the shortcodes. Is there a code modification or anything that I can do to allow shortcode content to be visible?
