Help with Plugins, Optimization and Links

    There are several things I am trying to do but I do not know how to do them. First, I want add plugins. I activated countdown, for example. But it doesn’t appear in the sidebar. I also tried it with the weather plugin but it didn’t appear either. Can someone please explain how to use plugins? Second, in this site , http://www.authenticasian.com/, the author has links at the top that go to different pages in the website, but with the same theme still there. What I am trying to say is, how do you create pages without posts? Sorry if I am asking too many questions, but I am just really excited about my discovery of wordpress.     I don’t know about countdown, but for the weather plugins, you have to add a php call to the sidebar. Most all plugins you download have a readme file with explicit instructions as to how to make them work. You can edit your sidebar.php file in the theme editor:
    admin -> presentation -> theme editor

    To create pages, simply go to:
    admin -> write -> write pages
