Hello! I am a student building the website http://www.buddyball.net for a non-profit organization. We chose dkret3 with fluidelity.css for the site’s theme. It looks wonderful and makes getting around easy!

I am trying to remove the Login/Register Form that shows up on each page because we do not wish to allow users the ability to create accounts and log in. I have already disabled registration in WordPress but the form still shows up. I am also trying to remove the “Categories” and “Archives” box from the page. I have tried going through the widget settings but cannot seem to find what I’m looking for.

My PHP experience is at a novice level so I am unsure of what to look for to fix these issues. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

  • You should be able to remove those from your widgets settings screen in the admin, the specific widgets you are looking for are, Meta, Archives and Categories. Just drag them from the Primary Sidebar area to anywhere else, or open the settings for the widgets and click on the delete link.

If you get stuck, Appearance Widgets Screen

    Hope that helps

pixel-Jay. Thank you for your response. I tried going into the Widget settings for the primary sidebar and there is nothing there. I think perhaps this theme is not totally widget compatible yet it is not showing up that way. I have attached a link to a screenshot of what it looks like here.

It seems those widgets are hard coded into sidebar.php, you could remove them manually, or try adding other widgets to the Primary Sidebar. Those default widgets will be replaced by whatever widget you use there. I have just checked, it works on my test install.

The theme is widget ready, it just has a fallback for when no widgets are placed in the sidebar.

The theme just adds some default widgets if the user doesn’t add any. So just add the widgets you would like to the sidebars you need and the default widgets won’t bothers you anymore.

I decided to add some default widgets because otherwise no user would download dkret. It just looks awful without any widgets.

Please test all those registered sidebars. You may want to add widgets at the bottom of your page? Just fill the sub-sidebars with widgets.

You want to cange the content of the double column? Add the Sidebar-Column-Widget to the sidebar of your choice and add widgets to the sidebar-columns.

It is just a matter of moving widgets from left to the sidbers of your choice.

DON’T CHANGE the html code directly.

Thank you for the help and creating a nice theme. I have it fixed now that I tried some different widgets.

ON the black bar above the main body below the header is the word HOME and next to it is the words NO CATEGORIES . how do you remove the words no categories? And why is the word home there? Is it just as a quick link back to the home page?

Also I have not figured out how to change the order of the pages listed on top of the site to the actual order I want it to be. Help,,,thanks

in case there is confusion this is about the pixel theme mentioned in the above posts

I’m trying to get help on a widget problem on this theme also, but no reply yet. The church will be disappointed to see it this way. The left column widget (called “primary”) moved on top of the right column widget. Anyone know how I fix this?

There is no labeling of sidebars to left and right. The Subsidiary Sidebars are not being used, neither or the 1st & 2nd column, just the Primary & Secondary. Using the terms “left” and “right” would be better.

JoyceD6 – you are better off starting a new thread for future questions. If you can post a link to your site, it’s more likely someone can help. As is, pretty impossible to help much at all.

Thanks, I did, but no responses. I’ll go back and edit it.
