• I’m a total beginner to Web/Blog Development, but I’m not a total dummy. Have read a lot of WordPress docs but still need help.

I have my WordPress hosted by GoDaddy.com and have my Blog Theme selected and configured as much as I’m able from within the WordPress 3.3.1 Dashboard. I want to change things, add and delete things and think the creation of a Child Theme is the way to go.

What I need are step by step instructions how to create a Child of my current Theme and Modify it.

Also, it’s not clear to me from where, within my WordPress Dashboard, I do all this and where the key information I need to pick up in order to create/modify the style.css and or .php files.

    Thank you in advance.

Thanks for the suggested documents. I’ve actually read them both, prior to issuing my question, and there in lies the rub. I’m not sure where I actually perform these activities as outlined in step 4 in the “How to make a child theme for WordPress: A pictorial introduction for beginners” document. The WordPress Dashboard environment seems limited. So at the moment, I’m stuck.

Maybe I need to call GoDaddy.com back as I can’t get past step 4. Like I said, I’m just beginning.

Any other suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

You don’t do it from the WordPress Dashboard. Create the files and upload them using FTP, then use the dashboard to switch to the child theme.
