• ok, first off, I’m running wordpress 2.0.2, I’ve tried everything, and any help would be appreciated.

I recently decided to migrate from xanga to wordpress. using a xanga export script, I extracted all my xanga posts and modified the exported file to match a movable type export document.

when using the import tool in wordpress, however, I have problems. First, on the page that states the movable type author name should appear in italics, I see no such name. I can select from a list of my wordpress users, but when I click submit, all I see is:

    Importing post …
    All done. Have fun!

and no posts are imported. I’ve tried everything, even installing wordpress 1.5 in another directory and using import-mt.php. When I do that, I receive this response:

    Processing post…
WordPress database error: [You have an error in your SQL syntax; check the manual that corresponds to your MySQL server version for the right syntax to use near ‘AND category_id = 1’ at line 1]
    SELECT * FROM wp_post2cat WHERE post_id = AND category_id = 1

WordPress database error: [You have an error in your SQL syntax; check the manual that corresponds to your MySQL server version for the right syntax to use near ‘ 1)’ at line 1]
    INSERT INTO wp_post2cat (post_id, category_id) VALUES (, 1)

    Post imported successfully…

    yet still nothing is imported.
So, thanks in advance for any help.

  • I’m having the same problem, except that I’m using today’s WP 2.0.3 and a *real* Movable Type Export (exported from version 3.2).

Just as an update: this seems to only occur if the database and webroot are on different servers.
