I just upgraded computers to a new macbook pro and with it changed from MAMP to XAMPP. I was forced to do this because for some unexplained reason MAMP does not want to work on the Newer Mac. Anyway, not the problem (I don’t think). I am migrating my sites over to my new computer and installing plugins. When I try to install updates I get a screen I have never seen before. I looked for similar issues in the forum but the only one I found no one ever responded to. I am getting a Connection Information screen asking my for:
    Hostname
    FTP Username
    FTP Password
    Connection type

Why am I getting this when I have never needed this in the past? I wonder if it has something to do with using XAMPP?

    Any help?

Here is what I have learned since I posted this message. Using MAMP with the latest Macbook is no bueno. I upgraded to MAMP Pro and all is well in the world. I still don’t know what is up with XAMPP. But I don’t have time to continually mess with packages that say they are plug and play then you spend 2 hours trying to figure out how to make it work. I keep my environment as generic as possible so I don’t have these problems. I will say that I am disappointed in MAMP that they have forced me to upgrade and pay.

    Thanks anyway.
