Support » Fixing WordPress » HTTPS / SSL certificate for wordpress login

  • I have moved my blog from wordpress.com to self hosted wordpress.
Wordpress.com has logins over https by default.

There is no input info taken from readers or no ecommerce going to happen.
But still concerned about the safety wrt hacks etc.

I learnt that a shared SSL certificate allows very low bandwidth and private certificates are expensive and require a dedicated ip as a prerequisite.

So for cost reasons, private ssl + dedicated ip seems too much for someone just starting out.. Also, I have quite a many images on the blog for consideration.

Is it safe enough to not have https for the wordpress logins on the self hosted blog?

Are there better inexpensive options? Can someone please help..
