Getting the page wider and sidebar smaller on Default Template

I want to make the page wider and my sidebar smaller becuase there is a lot of room leftover in the sidebar
I’ve searched the support forum but couldnt really find what i was looking for

also one more thing, theres some space between the search button and the login text, how can i move it up to make less space?
