Support » Fixing WordPress » Google Analytics Invalid Token

  • Hello,
I’ve added the plugin Google Analytics for WordPress to my blog to try to track visitor stats. The plugin is not activated because it needs to authenticate with Google to track the correct profile. But when I click the button to authenticate with Google, the Google page tells me ‘Invalid token’.
Any ideas what’s going on here? I’ve tried deleting the plugin and reinstalling it but exactly the same thing happened.
    Many thanks for your thoughts.
    S.

    Ok, hello, me again.
So, after leaving it for a while Google did seem to accept the token. But now it tells me I have to select which Analytics Profile to track. But the dropdowns for Account and Profile are both blank. So I can’t select an Account or a Profile.
    Once again, any ideas?
    Many thanks!

    Bump.

Do not bump posts. Bumping a post to “the top” does not help your topic get noticed. The volunteers who try to answer questions look for those without replies first. If you bump a post, then it disappears from the “No Replies” view. DO NOT BUMP.

Moderators will delete bumps they find. This is in order to help you get back into the No Replies listing, where you are more likely to get an answer.

So now I get a reply!
    Ok, apols. I’m a noob. I didn’t know. :o)

I’ve just got the same problem when I wanted to test the plugin in my local development setup. The reason for the google auth to fail is, when your system can’t make a secure https connection to google. When I tried the same plugin on a live site with wordpress, it worked fine.
