• Ugh.

I’ve spent so much time trying to figure out how to make wordpress work for me and here I am stuck again – on the install script. I’ve uploaded the wordpress files into the root directory. I interpreted this to mean select all files in the wordpress folder and drag them directly into the first level folder “www.staceyjune.com”. (I’m using FTP) Upload appears successful – I can see all files in the folder.

Step 5: I visit http://staceyjune.com/wp.admin/install.php only to get a 404 Not Found error.

I have no idea what to do next. Can someone please help? This should be so basic – I’m just very new to this all.

    Thanks in advance!

  • I could not find WordPress on your domain. You may want to make sure that you uploaded the files correctly. What location (folder) are your wordpress files in? Also, make sure the domain is pointed to the server correctly.

    Thanks Tim,

I selected all the files and folders form within the WordPress folder and dragged them directly into the top layer folder: http://www.staceyjune.com. I will check that the domain is pointed at the server correctly, I did try to straighten that out yesterday.

Can you let me know if I uploaded the files properly? Thanks so much!

I looked around and still could not find any instance of WordPress. I looked up the DNS on your domain and it’s pointing to RackSpace (dns1.stabletransit.com & dns2.stabletransit.com)

Check to make sure you uploaded the files correctly.

    Thanks Tim,

I’ve re-uploaded, but still not working so I’m thinking it must be that the domain is not pointed to the server correctly. I’m using Laughing Squid, not RackSpace. I’ve reached out to Laughing Squid to see if they can help figure out what I did or didn’t do… I’m very confused!

Your domain is pointed using rackspace nameservers for their cloud service.
