    Fatal error: Call to undefined function is_rtl() in /home/content/63/7604463/html/wp-includes/general-template.php on line 2102

    I get the fatal error when I go to http://easydietswaps.com/wp-admin .

    The error appeared close to Xmas when I updated to 3.2 (I think that was the version that was released about Xmas) and I haven’t been able to post since then. Time was against me for trying to solve it until now.

    I didn’t know where the problem lay. I thought it was something to do with my hosting but while there I noticed the latest version 3.3.1 version for WP and installed it over the old one. No change.

    I have Thesis theme (don’t know which version because I can’t get in to tell you).

    I finally spoke with someone today at my host GoDaddy who walked through the problem with me but couldn’t fix it so he said to contact this forum. He tried taking Thesis out and using TwentyEleven. No fix.

    I’m brand new to the forum and know nothing about coding so all the help you can give me is appreciated. I am still finding my way around WP and all the ftp stuff as well.

    If I uninstall WP and try and reinstall it, is there a way to avoid losing all of my content that I have posted already? Or is there just a way to repair that line of code? Or what do I do?

    It sounds like you might have had an issue when upgrading, like it didn’t fully upgrade. So I’d manually upgrade all the core WordPress files and see if that fixes the issue.

    You can find instructions on how to do that manual upgrade here. There’s also some instructions on that page on how to backup everything so you don’t lose any content.

    This is a more general problem, and is happening with number of plugins

    Thanks guys for such prompt responses.

    I will make sure my back-up is complete before I try the manual upgrade – thanks dkotter. I’ve been cautiously reading the instructions you linked. I don’t have many plugins but I guess it only takes one to cause a problem. If the manual upgrade doesn’t help and I need some more help I’ll ask about the plugins – thanks Roger.

    I really appreciate your advice.
