    Hello,

When saving to a taxonomy from a single line text field, it only works with non hierarchical taxonomies (eg. tags). It cannot work with hierarchical taxonomies (eg. categories) because there is no way to determine the parent taxonomy when saving the term against the custom post.

If you want to use a hierarchical taxonomy like categories, then use a dropdown field, which builds up the hierarchy in the dropdown

    Hi,

What about functionality for adding both a parent and a child term (and even a grandchild term)? Perhaps the second single line text field could look for 2nd level terms?

I’m thinking through a problem where the user will submit terms to a location taxonomy – state, city, place. The idea being that at each place there are a few projects (custom posts).

In theory, couldn’t you have a set of text fields, with the first being the parent, the second the child, and the third the grandchild?

    – Ben
