You don’t have to do anything else. I am not sure why it is not working properly.
Are you using the widget or the shortcode? Also which theme you are using?
I’ve got this issue too.
The theme is TwentyTen with sidebars and widgets.The version of WP is 3.4.
It works only for posts with tags, but not posts and pages with custom field.
Please check if the following settings are correct:
in the widget, the following options are check:
>Title and Tags form left empty
>Get tags and title from custom fields. You need to set the custom field for each post/page.
>Disable cache
while i edit a page, i put some text in the Widget Title and Widget Tag box , this is the Custom Fields, right? But when i show that page, nothing appears in the sidebar.

That’s strange. Can you confirm whether you are able to see the custom field in the edit post screen?
Also while debugging this issue, I found a bug which was overriding the custom field, when autosave is enabled.
I have fixed it and released v2.7 of the Plugin. Kindly check v2.7 of the Plugin and let me know if you are still facing this issue.

I just installed v2.7 and have the exact same issue.
while working from the widgets area all is great.
but when defining the custom fields from the page editing screen, nothing shows up on front end.

Are you sure the tag you are specifying in the custom field, has atleast one post?

maybe some of the other plugins i used created a problem.
