Post Titles show HTML Character Codes

    For some reason, when I try to paste a URL into Facebook or use the Tweet button to tweet a post, the post title show my & and – as HTML code.

    For example:
    “Apples – The Versatile Cooking Fruit and Sweet & Hot Slow Cooker Pork Recipe”

    will appear as:
    “Apples – The Versatile Cooking Fruit and Sweet & Hot Slow Cooker Pork Recipe”

    I’m using <title><?php wp_title(''); ?></title> to title the pages. I’ve tried deactivating all plug-ins and the HTML characters still appear.

    Any ideas for why that might occur?
