Custom Search – Removing Navigation

    I’m needing to develop a custom search which uses a function to search for posts with a certain post-type.

    Before I’ve even got this far the WordPress search seems rather messy, whenever I search for anything in WordPress on my theme, it comes up with a massive problem.

    First using the standard search in WordPress if I search say ‘news’ I would expect it to bring up my news page however it does not?

    The second issue is that when searching I get a list of all 170+ pages I have on my site down under the ‘no results found’ message. I’d quite like to remove this as its rather pointless.

    I’m fine with php, just need to know what file I need to tweak! Any help would be great.
